Hinton Fact!
On 8/6/1901 the Kiowa, Comanche, Apache, Wichita, Caddo Indian Land was opened for settlement by the method of drawing lots. Two stations for registration were set up, one at El Reno and the other at Lawton. There were 3 1/2 million acres, divided into 6,500 claims of 160 acres each given out. 170,000 persons registered. The El Reno district was the location of the future town, Hinton.
